How to Pour The Perfect Guinness

    Last updated 1 month ago

Guinness is characterized by its uniquely thick foam that peaks out just over the rim for the perfect first sip. In order to achieve this, the beer must be poured just right.

This video shows the two-part pour process that produces the ideal head on the beer for every pint. Starting with a clean, room-temperature glass, the beer is poured at a 45 degree angle until the glass is about three quarters of the way full. The beer needs a moment to rest while the bubbles settle before the glass is finished off with a straight pour.

At the Tilted Kilt, we serve our Guinness with pride and pour it the right way every time. Check out our entire menu of beers, cocktails, and pub fare by visiting our website or calling (678) 385-6970.

    5 Great Guinness Drinks!

    Last updated 1 month ago

When you think of cocktails, beer is probably not the first mixer that comes to mind. However, beer-based cocktails can put a fresh spin on your favorite draughts, providing a perfect drink to enjoy during the next big game at the sports bar. Guinness is an excellent beer mixer because its dark and slightly sweet nature pairs excellently with a variety of different flavors. Here are some of the Guinness cocktails you should try during your next trip to the Tilted Kilt:

    1. Rotten Pear: In spite of the name, there is nothing rotten about this brilliant mix of Guinness and pear cider. The thick black stout floats over the crisp and light cider for a delightful drink that is good to the last drop. The sweetness of the cider perfectly enhances the sweeter notes of the stout.
    2. Black & Tan: This blend of pale ale and Guinness is a classic pairing that brings out the best elements of both beers. Beer lovers of all styles can agree that this beer cocktail will never disappoint.
    3. Black & Blue: If you enjoy the light citrus notes of a well-balanced wheat beer, treat your taste buds to a mix of Guinness and Blue Moon. The bubbly carbonation of Blue Moon blends nicely with the thick, foamy head of Guinness. Each sip is delightfully bitter from the stout with a sweet orange finish.
    4. Blacksmith: Show your Irish pride with two great Irish beers combined in one glass. Guinness is floated over Smithwick’s red ale for a tasty drink that captures the spirit of Ireland.
    5. Belfast Boom: Get crazy with a bomber that is drunk in one chug. The Belfast Boom is the Tilted Kilt’s take on an Irish car bomb: a shot of Irish whiskey and Irish cream dropped into a half pint of Guinness.

These great Guinness creations are just some of the beer cocktails available at the Tilted Kilt-Jacksonville. Try them alongside our outstanding pub fare after perusing our menu online or calling us at (678) 385-6970.

    Super Bowl Wing Etiquette 101

    Last updated 1 month ago

While the Super Bowl may have wrapped up football season, wing season lasts all year. The best way to make the most of any big game is by enjoying it while you chow down on a classic pub favorite—wings. But before you can start the feast, you should brush up on your wing etiquette:

    • Go for an even share of flats and drums. The drums are the wing portions that look most similar to drumsticks, while the flats tend to have a flatter and wider appearance. It is important to eat both flats and drums so that everyone in the group can enjoy a fair share. This is especially true if you are hanging out with a new group of people.
    • Avoid being too messy. It is almost impossible to eat a plate of wings without getting wing sauce on your face, clothes, or a fellow diner. But you can take caution to avoid being too messy when chowing down. Wearing a bib may feel silly at first--but you won’t feel silly when you are the only one with a clean shirt! You should also keep plenty of napkins around to help you clean sauce off of your mouth and fingers.
    • Discard of bones properly. You can keep your snack organized by designating a spot for bones. Some diners will put bones back down on the plate--but mixing fresh wings with old bones can be unappetizing for other diners. Choose a separate bowl or plate to serve as the designated bone holder.
    • Share the wealth! The most important rule to remember when eating wings is to share with your friends. It is easy to share wings when you eat here at Tilted Kilt-Jacksonville! We also offer catering services if you want to watch your favorite games at home while still enjoying your favorite pub food.
